A Spell to Prepare for Eclipse Magic

Posted by Bellisana 06/07/2018 0 Comment(s) Spells From Pagan Realms,

Coming up in late July, we’re having the longest lunar eclipse of the 21st Century. It’s scheduled to last a little over an hour. Commonly known as the Full Buck Moon, this year, the July full moon and the July lunar apogee, the moon’s most distant point, fall on the same day. Because it’s more distant, it's sometimes called the mini-moon. The small moon is also slower since the distance makes its orbit take longer. This makes the eclipse last longer than normal.

A lunar eclipse always takes place on the night of a full moon, whereas a solar eclipse can only take place during the day on a new moon. Lunar magic is often used for letting go, and the lunar eclipse is the best time for freeing yourself of the fears and blocks that are holding you back.

To do that, we must discover within ourselves what is holding us back. If you’re not where you want to be in life, the odds are good that you have ingrained ideas that prevent you from fulfilling your best destiny. Much as our chakra energy is built in 7-year cycles, many of our ingrained beliefs about ourselves were formed during our first 7 years. Think back on your first seven years. Even if you don’t remember much, you know enough about your family to know what type of life you and your family led at that time.

Think about what beliefs you have that you feel keep you from being where you want to be in life. These are things that affect the root chakra. The right to have and to be. In this spell, we’re asking the universe/deity of your choice, for insight to heal issues affecting the root chakra, and we’re asking for the wisdom through the third eye chakra to discover those issues.

You will need:

1 red candle

1 indigo candle

Rosemary (root chakra)

Frankincense (third eye chakra)

Cauldron (if using herbs)

You can either anoint your candles with oil, or you can use your mortar and pestle to grind the herbs together. If you choose herbs, you will also need a lighter of some sort.

It’s good to decorate your altar or sacred space with the colors and symbols of your deity or your chakras, or both, as you choose, just make sure you honor the self and the universal. I like to raise energy for this working with music. I have a djembe that I like to play. I’ve also used CDs. Use what works best for you.

If you have anointed the candles, you will simply light them and say the following:

If you are using herbs, you will light the candles, use the red candle to light the herbs and say the following:

Bring me insight

And make me wise

Bring me vision

And open my eyes

To set me free

and help me release

Let me see

What hinders me

Sit before your altar in whatever is a comfortable meditation position for you and open your mind and your self to the universe and see what you find hidden there. When you are done, simply release the energy and open your space.
